Does Shopify Take A Percentage Of Sales?

Yes, a percentage of sales is taken by Shopify for every product you sell. That shouldn’t be something that puts you off, though!

This platform offers different tiers for merchants to use. It’s these tiers that actually determine the percentage that you pay.

How Does it Get Worked Out?

There are three plans available for merchants to choose from: basic, Shopify, and advanced. Each of these plans offers something a little different to users, granting them flexibility in spending and tools.

Not only that, but if you decide to upgrade your plan, the process is easy and straightforward. There’s even a Shopify Lite option that allows users to have basic features and use the payment gateway. We will cover this later on, too.

It’s important to note straight off the bat that the highest plan (advanced) has the smallest charges. While this isn’t a massive difference compared to the other two plans, in a business, it can be a big deal.

I would also like to note that you can avoid other additional fees by using Shopify Payments when you are paying for these plans. Any other payment option will incur additional fees.

The Plans

Although Shopify is not the cheapest or most affordable eCommerce builder available, it does offer a lot. It is the most trusted option, and used by over 17 million people around the world. This platform even has close to 20% of the market share, so the evidence really speaks for itself.

With the incredible dedication and hard work that gets put into this platform, it comes as no surprise that it is constantly improving. Thanks to that, this platform’s revenue has just about doubled since 2013, so you know it isn’t going anywhere.
